Russell Gladhart - Owner

Russell was immediately captivated by the vineyard his parents planted when he was 18. He enjoyed working on the farm during his studies and after graduation. He went on to work for several vineyards and wineries in Oregon and New Zealand, always thinking about how what he was learning could be applied to the vineyard at home. He and Delphine met while working together at an Oregon winery, and the two of them went on to travel and work together in Oregon, New Zealand, and finally Delphine’s home, France. In 2004 they married and moved back to Oregon, forming a partnership with Peter and Emily. Russell enjoys the challenges, unpredictability, and ultimate rewards of working with family and running a small business.

Winter’s Hill Supports Yamhelas Rails to Trails

Winter’s Hill is excited to be working with members of the Oregon Wine-country Communiity to create an 18 mile biking and hiking trail on the right-of-way of the old Union Pacific Railroad.  This intact right-of-way represents an extraordinary resource for both visitors and locals alike. As soon as we learned about this project, we knew […]

Northwest Wines To You is no more. (And that’s OK!)

Over the past several years, we have partnered with Northwest Wines To You to provide our shopping cart and other compliance services. They have been a good partner, but we decided that we could better serve our customers on our own site, http://www.shopwintershill.com . As it happens, just when we were about to roll out […]

An intensely perfumed bouquet displays scents of raspberry preserves, potpourri and incense, with an exotic spicy overlay. Silky and sweet, offering spicy red berry flavors and a palate-numbing lashing […]

Can you spare a tractor?

Harvest is coming, and Winter’s Hill is looking for a tractor. During the off season, we purchased a specialized trailer to pull the loaded bins of fruit up from the vineyard to the winery.  We are looking forward to bringing the fruit in much more quickly and efficiently, but there is one catch.  We need […]

Too soon to tell

We are getting excited about the coming 2013 vintage, and visitors to the winery are eager to know “Will this be a good vintage?” Our neighbors at Lenné Estate have a great blog post on the dangers of making predictions in Oregon. You can read it here.

90 pts for 2010 Pinot noir Dundee Hills Estate

The International Wine Cellar just published their annual Oregon Pinot noir Report.  Many of Oregon’s best wines were reviewed, and we were pleased with the rating and description of our 2010 Pinot noir Dundee Hills Estate: “90 pts.  Pale red.  Red berries, rose oil and blood orange on the fragrant nose.  Juicy and precise, with […]
