We are pleased to share our most recent reviews from Burghound.com, as well as an older review for the 2005 Reserve.

Winter’s Hill Vineyard 2009 Pinot Noir – Willamette Valley

“A perfumed nose of pure red pinot fruit leads to rich, round and delicious middle weight flavors that possess good verve and delineation on the round and supple finish that offers both good balance and solid length. This is on the lighter side but it’s a perfectly good effort that carries its alcohol with virtually no warmth.”  Score: 88 Issue: 51

“A relatively elegant nose features plenty of floral influence on the expansive aromas of dark berries and briar scents. There is a seductive mouth feel to the velvety, lush and dusty middle weight flavors that possess good verve and persistence if only average depth. While this could be held for a few more years, it appears to have realized its underlying potential.” Score: 88  Issue: 51
“This is ever-so-slightly more deeply pitched than the Willamette Valley cuvée as there is more of a briar component to the mix of red and dark pinot fruit scents. There is a lovely mouth feel to the seductively textured yet reasonably precise flavors that are on the simple side. I do like the persistence though wish for a bit more depth. This is drinking perfectly well now.” Score: 87 Issue: 51

“Thi has really begun to develop a perfumed complexity with lovely nuance of violets and blue fruit that is also reflected by the delicious and equally deep middle weight flavors that possess a beguiling mouth feel and excellent length. While still a year or two away from its peak, this is already beginning to drink well and the only nit is a discreet hint of backend warmth. Worth a look.”  Score: 90 Issue: 37

Burghound.com is the product of Allen Meadows, an independent writer and critic of Pinot Noir from Burgundy, California, and Oregon.  He accepts no advertising, and personally tastes and reviews all of the wines himself.  “This is a site for burgundy and pinot enthusiasts – whether new enthusiasts or grizzled old guzzlers.”  I recommend that you take a look.
