Time for a trim

The vines grow fast in early summer, with leaves and tendrils reaching for the sky.  If the vines grow too far above the top wire of the trellis, they droop down and can shade the developing fruit below.

We take a little off the top and the sides to keep the vines pointed up, with lots of sunshine headed down to the developing clusters.

The trimmer works great.  Except when it doesn’t.  Spare parts to be shipped on Monday.
