Last week started with bottling…
Our 2024 Pinot noir and barrel aged white wines such as Pearly Everlasting and Reserve Pinot gris. Getting ready to bottle can be stressful as we work to get the wines ready, and make sure the packaging arrives on time. Bottling day can be a relief as all the pieces come together and the bottles move down the line correctly filled, with corks and labels all in place.
Then the sheep arrived…
Just a couple of days later after bottling, 200 sheep arrived at Winter’s Hill! It might look like they are on vacation, but these ladies are working hard to reduce our wildfire risk and control invasive weeds like thistles and blackberries.

Rather than having a few animals graze our Oak Savannah all year round, we are intentionally bringing in a large group for a short period of time. This will reduce the undesirable vegetation quickly, while minimizing soil compaction and allowing the desirable species to quickly recover.
We are fortunate to work with Naked Grazing to implement this solution. Lisa and her team won’t be here long, so be sure to visit us in August to see them in action.
