Two wine bottles with two glasses in a comparative wine tasting

June is Single Block Pinot noir month at Winter’s Hill, and we are kicking it off with a side-by-side tasting of our 2012 114 Clone and our 2024 Center Cut Pinot noirs.

Our team just tasted these wines this morning, and we were struck by the consistent tannin finish in two wines made 12 years apart.  I hope you will join us this month for (at least) one of the 4 comparative tastings that we have planned:

June 1-8: 2012 114 Clone & 2024 Center Cut
June 9 -15: 2009 Block 9 Pommard & 2024 Block 9 Pommard
June 16-22: 2021 Block 8 & 2024 Block 8
June 23-30: 2015 Block 10 Destemmed & 2015 Block 10 Whole Cluster

A BIT OF BACKGROUND

These tastings are an evolution of the Futures Tastings that we have done in past years. Rather than sample from barrels, we will be tasting finished wines that were bottled last summer. This eliminates your wait time as these 2024 wines are ready to go home with you now! (All wines that aren’t purchased will be re-cellared for another 1-2 years.)

Bittersweet News
This week we also want to extend a heartfelt Thank You and Good Luck to Rachel Lynn!  Rachel has been with us just over a year and in that short time she has made a big difference to Winter’s Hill.  You likely met Rachel on our patio, where her enthusiasm for our wines and our family made her a tremendous ambassador.  You did not see her work behind the scenes where she re-organized our storeroom, trained new staff, and helped our team operate as a better team!

We will miss her, but we support her decision to pursue her education and build a stronger career path for herself.  Rachel will still be with us a few days per month, and she’ll remain part of the Winter’s Hill family.
