This April we will be sharing stories about our ongoing commitment to protecting the environment as we grow and craft delicious wines. We feel so fortunate to live and work in this special place, and we have some new ways for you to share that experience with us.
We’re introducing two new channels this week, stay tuned for more throughout the month.
Capturing Nature One Picture at a Time
Many of you know Emily as a gracious host at our tastings and other events. In addition, she is a perceptive observer of the natural world, and an expert in the native plants, insects, birds and other wildlife that make their home in and around our vineyards. Emily is also at the center of our many collaborations with local and national conservation groups.
To give you a peek into her observations, we invite you to join us in Walking With Emily. Each week Emily will share a photo from Winter’s Hill showing the beauty and diversity of the natural world. Most of the photos will be hers, but she also plans to highlight the work and observations being made by the groups we collaborate with.
Sharing Wildlife Videos
Winter’s Hill Estate is known for having one of the best views in Oregon Wine Country, but not everything is visible from the Tasting Patio, at least not during daylight hours. We are installing wildlife cameras across our farm to give you an up-close view of the animals that share our home. The first view brings you into the barn, where my son Nico and I built and installed an owl nest this winter. A pair of Barn Owls have been checking out the nest, we hope they move in and raise a family!
We’ll be sharing photos and videos throughout the year so you can follow along. More cameras are coming soon, including the pigs!
Supporting Environmental Causes
Throughout the year, we host meetings and fundraisers for non-profit groups that we support. On May 6 we are hosting the Yamhill Conservation Trust for their kick-off event. Click here for more information and reservations.
How will Winter’s Hill Estate be celebrating Earth Month 2026?
The team will be introducing the photography of Emily Gladhart and videos from animal cameras that were recently installed in the barn.
What will Emily’s pictures feature?
Emily is a perceptive observer of the natural world, and an expert in native plants, insects, birds and other wildlife. She will be taking pictures weekly of these creatures on the vineyard estate and sharing them with the winery’s email subscribers.
What types of animals can I watch on the Winter’s Hill animal cameras?
A pair of Barn Owls have been checking out the nest in a barn installed on the property. More cameras are coming soon so the subscribers can see their pigs!
