The Oregon wine industry has always valued and learned from our relationships with other international wine regions. We are fortunate to have international investment in Oregon wineries from France, Italy, Australia, and elsewhere. Many winemakers, like myself, have worked and trained in Europe, South America, and Australasia, gaining from their experience and traditions.
Alongside that respect, however, Oregon has always created wines that stand on their own, not just imitating other regions. From the start, Oregon has had the strictest labeling regulations in the country, prohibiting the use of names like Burgundy and Champagne on our wines. (You also won’t find any wines labeled American that actually contain 25% imported bulk wines).
Our Commitment to Rigorous Standards
However, as Oregon sparkling wine production steadily gained international acclaim, a question kept coming up. “If we are not going to call our wines Champagne, what should we call them?” To answer that question, Winter’s Hill is proud to be among the group of Oregon winemakers launching Method Oregon. Together, we are committed to a set of vineyard and winemaking standards that put environmental protection and premium wine quality as the top priorities. (Since that is already how we roll at Winter’s Hill, it was easy for us to get on board!)
Taste Our Traditional Method Sparkling Wine!
Winter’s Hill has been producing traditional sparkling wine since 2016, and we are excited to be part of the growth and excitement around these wines. We’ll be sharing our wines at the Method Oregon event on July 25 (almost sold out) as well as featuring our 2021 Traditional Method in our tasting flight for the month of July.
