Our Signature White Blend
Most of the wines made in North America, including ours, are crafted from a single varietal of grapes. Historically, this goes back to the 60s and 70s, when naming the varietal offered transparency to the wine lover who was searching for higher quality than the “Hearty Burgundy” or other generic blends that were widely available.
Blending Pearly Everlasting since 2014
However, the tradition of blending different grapes is as old as winemaking, and many of the best wines from Europe are blends. At Winter’s Hill, we began blending our white wines back in 2014, when we crafted our first Pearly Everlasting from Pinot gris and Pinot blanc.
Over the years, we have continued to refine and improve our technique, and I think that the wine has come to express the terroir of our vineyard more than any single varietal can. Pearly Everlasting fans…what do you think?
Just Released and Available Online
On Tuesday we released the 2023 Pearly Everlasting. To make this wine we blended the juice of Pinot gris, Pinot blanc, and Chardonnay, then fermented it in two large oak puncheons. As a result, the flavors are totally integrated into a uniquely delicious wine.
White flowers, stone fruit and melon aromas on the nose will keep developing as it opens up in your glass. Gentle acidity and tannins provide structure and length on the palate. On the finish, notes of fennel and nutmeg linger and harmonize.
A New Bottle for this New Release
As we continue to push the quality of our wines, we are also pushing our commitment to sustainability, including the re-usable bottle we selected for this wine. This blended effort is good for all of us. 😊
